Swivelling bearing for gripping wood

A log grapple is a specialized machine designed for grabbing, loading, and unloading timber, bamboo, straw, and other long materials. Typically built on the base of a hydraulic excavator, it differs mainly in its front-end working device. Instead of a bucket, it features a timber grapple with longer, reinforced arms known as "grappling arms."

A critical component in the machine’s structure is the slewing bearing, which enables the rotation of the upper assembly. This bearing must withstand heavy axial and radial loads, overturning moments, and gear-driven circumferential forces. It requires precise clearance, installation accuracy, high tooth wear resistance, proper heat treatment, and strong material quality. Hardened teeth significantly improve wear resistance, enhancing the safety, stability, and service life of the log grapple.
